FAQ

What is a Subluxation?
A subluxation is a misaligned vertebrae causing interference to nerve messages that flow through your body and brain. It may involve your muscles, discs, ligaments, tendons and other body parts as well.

What does Subluxation do?
When people think of going to a Chiropractor they think of headaches, neck pain, back pain, pain in their arms and legs which all can be caused by subluxations but what most people don’t know is that subluxations also cause symptoms such as acid reflux, constipation, diarrhea, bed wetting, sinus problems, difficulty swallowing, ear infections and much, much more.

Talk to the doctors of Torrey Pines Chiropractic and make sure to tell them if you have any abnormal symptoms that may be caused by spinal subluxations.

What causes Subluxations?

    • Difficult birth or delivery
    • Auto accident
    • Chemical stress/unbalanced nutrition
    • Repetitive strain/stress injury
    • Bad posture
    • Emotional stress
    • Pushing yourself too hard
    • Drug use, medications
    • Surgery

    • Emotional shock
    • Genetics

What is an “Adjustment”?
“CHIRO-PRACTIC” is a Greek word that means “done by hand”. A spinal adjustment is a special procedure your chiropractor uses to correct subluxations. The doctor adjusts the bones by hand. At the moment that a chiropractor adjusts your subluxation, hundreds of bodily functions and activities are affected. The flow of nerve impulses over the spinal cord and spinal nerves are normalized and your body begins to renew and rebuild itself.

Your chiropractor spends years mastering this procedure. If you are nervous about receiving an adjustment, please don’t be. Studies have shown it is safer than taking an aspirin.
